A little business update…the new blog is currently in the programming stages and will be live very soon! We’ve been holding back the blog posts because this old blog will serve as a live archive with the new blog design being at a different domain.  Keep watching!

Anyway, I’m excited to post Taylor and Jeff’s e-session from earlier this year.  For you northern folk, this is what our February looks like…I know, I know…but don’t hate.  :)  Mind you, I do envy the north when we are mired in our 100 degree summers though!

Jeff and Taylor are a sweet couple and turned it up a notch when the sun went down.  Congrats you guys!

Congrats to Emily and Evan who just got married this past weekend.  Enjoy!

I now get to enjoy another perspective…that of a husband to a mom.  While Ang and I each love our children dearly and equally, there is something that Ang can offer Emma and Avery that I couldn’t quite match, even if I tried my hardest.  It’s that intangible essence that most women have, but few master it.  I am truly grateful for what my mom has done for me and who she is.  Although she “lightly pressured” me to find someone to marry, I believe it was her “mothering” that really helped me see what I needed and what I was looking for in a wife…and it ended up being someone who was not only beautiful and smart, but someone who I knew could master the trade of a mother and provide my children with the same experience that I had.  Thank you mom and thank you Ang for being a fantastic mother.

While looking good was not always enjoyable as a young lad, it does have it merits as you get older.  Emily and Evan proved that by looking pretty sharp for their engagement session in Charlotte, NC.  It was actually pouring down rain just minutes before our shoot was scheduled to begin, but I’ve learned to ignore the weather reports and sure enough, the rain held up just in time for our shoot.  Emily and Evan were a fun couple to shoot (as all my clients are!) and we had a blast walking around Charlotte, stopping traffic to get some great shots.

I also just did an awesome bridal shoot of Emily and I totally can’t wait to share that session too…after the wedding of course!

For Tanja and Dan’s day after session it was a gorgeous sun-splashed, fall day in Durham on Duke’s campus…I had my camera in hand, a setting that was painted by God himself and a delightful couple who had just gotten married.  Their love for each other was beaming which made them even more of a pleasure to photograph.  Enjoy the photos!

It’s almost kind of sad for me when I”m finished shooting a wedding because when the “high” of getting to know a couple and anticipating their event together is over, once the images and albums are delivered, the clients move on with their lives.

The consolation for me is knowing that a photo I captured is hanging on a wall somewhere in my clients home, allowing them to re-tell their story every time someone visits….or there is a photo nested in a frame on the corner of a desk at work that triggers beautiful memories that will allow one to easily forget all the hassles of a tough day at work.

I totally didn’t mean to go all “deep” here…lol, but I guess I will always have some kind of life long connection with my clients.  I love that.

My assistant Jason and I arrived in Manhattan around noon on the day of our shoot and did not leave until 7:00 pm or so.  It’s easy to see why most New Yorkers are in such good shape…we must have walked 50 miles that day!  I know I can thrive on the adrenaline of shooting, but props to Kristal and Brian for enduring a long afternoon and evening while being such great, natural subjects who had absolutely no problem displaying their love and affection for each other…they were an inspiration themselves.

Congrats Kristal and Brian…I’m looking forward to your northern Michigan wedding this summer!
